Welcome to the Troop 609 Scout Managed web-site

About Our Troop:

Troop 609 is part of the Boy Scouts of America in the Western Los Angeles County Council, Bill Hart District. We generally have about 40-50 scouts. We were founded in 1970 and have been chartered by the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall for the last 30+ years. Like most scout troops, we use the patrol method where each scout is part of a smaller patrol boys. There are scouts of all ages and ranks involved in the troop. We are year-round, all-weather, and participate in a very active outdoors program with a variety of trips and activities throughout the year, including backpacking, car camping, hiking and others. (see some pictures from our recent adventures/historian page)

Our Vision

To have an efficient Boy led Troop offering Leadership and Training

while having fun and learning some life skills along the way.

----------------------------

Our Troop has 117 Eagle Scouts!  Note, a Scout must decide it is a personal goal to earn the Eagle rank.  We are supportive, but we do not push for it.
